The 1920s are regarded as a decade with a fascinating flair. After the First World War, Germany experienced a short period of freedom and democracy. Cultural life and technical progress reached unique heights during this period. Although the terrible developments of the 1930s erased much of what had been achieved, ultimately the "Roaring Twenties" continue to shape life in many areas to this day. The modern living style of the Bauhaus, the development of media technology or mass mobility and, last but not least, the urge for freedom and the liberalism of this wild time changed civilisation.

Stiegelmeyer has been supporting the clinic clowns for years. The work of these artists, who inspire both children in hospitals and senior citizens in nursing homes, is close to our hearts. The clowns have been active in Germany for over 20 years. For 15 years there has been the umbrella association Clowns in Medicine and Nursing Germany e.V. based in Freising. Elisabeth Makepeace, chairwoman of the umbrella association, spoke with us about the different needs in nursing homes and hospitals, the challenges of the digital age and the long road to secure financing.

During adjustment, the beds make a stop at approx. 38 cm, because this height is ergonomically ideal for many people to stand up and sit down. Jessica Broda is the head of nursing at the Düsseldorf Clinic Bel Etage. The private clinic comprises twelve patient rooms and one suite, and up to 2,000 operations are performed annually – with the main focus on spinal surgery, orthopaedics and plastic surgery. When walking through the ward, the particularly homelike, elegant and sophisticated atmosphere is immediately noticeable.
